Johnson and Thorndike named to the 2026 SC Legal Elite
Both attorneys at Townes B. Johnson III, LLC have been named to the 2026 SC Legal Elite, published by Greenville Business Magazine on August 17, 2026. Townes B. Johnson III was named in Construction and Christian Thorndike in Civil Litigation, both for the Upstate Region.
Legal Elite has been published annually since 2012 across Greenville Business Magazine, Columbia Business Monthly, Charleston Business Magazine, B2B: The Grand Strand and B2B: Pee Dee Business. The lists are built from ballots cast by South Carolina attorneys, organized by practice area and region. Lawyers cannot vote for themselves, and every active attorney in the state has the opportunity to participate — which is what makes it a straight measure of what the bar thinks of you.
As the magazine put it this year, respect is earned rather than claimed, and recognition by fellow attorneys carries a particular weight because they know what sits behind a negotiation, a brief, or a client relationship.
For a two-lawyer firm, having both attorneys on the list is a good day. It is also a reminder of who does the voting: the lawyers on the other side of our cases. More on Townes’s run in Construction · More on Christian’s four consecutive years

About this recognition: Legal Elite is a peer-voted listing published by Greenville Business Magazine and its sister publications. It is a recognition by other lawyers, not a testimonial from a client of the firm. Any result the firm may achieve for one client in one matter does not necessarily indicate that similar results can be obtained for other clients.
